Remember Red Barn Restaurants? They were a fast food joint that served burgers, chicken, and fish. Red Barn Restaurants opened in 1961 and went out of business by 1988. This Red Barn Trick/Treat bag I’m sharing today is a paper bag with paper rope handles. Like the few other Red Barn Restaurant Halloween bags I’ve found, it lacks both years and makers marks.

This candy catching freebie displays a different design on each side. The entire design is only red and black printed on white. On the first side is a red devil with a naughty grin and a pitchfork. On the flip side of the Red Barn Trick/Treat bag is, of course, an angel! This angel is wear a red tunic, playing a hard, and looking quite innocent. The devil’s label reads as “TRICK?” presented as a question. The the angel as “TREAT!” in bold, red letters.
I can’t find any way to date this with certainty. If I had to, I would hazard a guess as mid to late 1960s. These are a rare find, which makes sense, as they’re made out of paper. It’s likely most were tossed out shortly after the last Snickers bar was eaten many years ago.
