The 80’s had a lot of cool stuff – but these weird foam pumpkins were always a little too lifelike for my liking. Sometimes called Grumpkins or Grotesque Face, designed by Diane Steel and Todd Masters (and possibly more). Produced by companies such as Fundex, Topstone, and Summit Collections.

These creepy little foam pumpkins are for sale all over the internet, in various conditions. These always strike me as something that would have a bite out of them from a toddler or a very excited family dog. The foam itself will likely last for a while, but it seems like the surface sometimes becomes the victim of time and improper storage, crackling like a well-used Nerf football. The green stems were painted and that paint also becomes chipped and flakes. Some Grumpkins had facial features painted, too.

If you were alive for Grumpkins and grotesque face foam pumpkins, you’ll probably love seeing those old Trendmaster window silhouettes again! Click here to see a collection from 1993 containing a witch, a skeleton wielding a knife, a werewolf and Frankenstein’s Monster. Between these garbage bag plastic window covers and the actual pumpkin and ghost garbage bags out on the front lawn, we were covered for those dark, chilly fall evenings leading up to Halloween!
